Have you looked back at your childhood recently? Do you remember any books that you enjoyed when you were young? If not, we will take you back with these books!

Rainbow Magic series

Rainbow Magic is a fictional story where two girls, Rachel and Kirsty, have an adventure with a fairy and solves problems that evil Jack Frost causes. One fairy appears in each book, each of them a fairy for something specific such as a color, a sport, or an animal. There are over 200 books in the series, written by Daisy Meadows. Although the plot is similar in every book, I enjoyed the idea of being friends with fairies and cooperating to save the day. The fairies are illustrated in a wide range of ethnicities, fashions, and hairstyles, which made it exciting to see what fairy would come next.

Although she has been telling herself not to put the Magic Finger upon anybody again, she is unable to control her anger towards the Gregg family for hunting animals. Her finger has added elements of a bird to the whole family. They all became short and got wings instead of arms. Through this odd experience, the family learns for themselves why they shouldn’t hunt animals.

One day, a brother and sister, Jack and Annie, finds a magical tree house filled with books about many different places, subjects and time periods. These books take the two to a journey inside the book, where exciting adventures await. Aside from the main series, there are two other types of books, which are: Merlin Missions and Fact Trackers. Merlin Missions are longer than the main series and has a higher reading level so children could enjoy Jack and Annie’s adventure and still be challenged. Fact Trackers are nonfiction books that are close-ups of the places, subjects or time periods that Jack and Annie discovers in the Magic Tree House.

Junie B. Jones series

Junie B. Jones is a book series for children written by Barbara Park and illustrated by Denise Brunkus. The story revolves around Junie B. Jones, a mischievous and funny six-year-old kindergartener. The book always starts with Junie B. introducing herself, and telling the reader that she hates her middle name “Beatrice”, which is why she uses “B”. The story is mainly about dealing with everyday dramas and obstacles that kindergardeners face. For example, the first book is about the first day of school. Junie B. is scared of the “stupid, smelly” school bus and the mean children on it. Because it is written from Junie B.’s perspective, it is written with poor grammar and are mostly in short sentences. It is not the best book to learn English, but it definitely takes you back when we were her age.
