1. Happy Death Day (2017)
The main character called Tree is a university student who spends her time playing around and getting drunk. She wakes up with a headache in her classmate’s bed on her birthday. On her way to a party that night, she is killed by someone wearing a mask. But she finds herself in the same bed again, and relives her birthday repeatedly. She begins trying to find who the killer is and stop a time loop. If you just look at the title, you might think it’s a horror movie, but actually it’s not. It includes comedy and suspense as well, so people who don’t like horror that much can also enjoy. I also recommend Happy Death Day 2U (2019) which is about Tree getting trapped in a time loop in another dimension!
2. Knives Out (2019)
Harlan Thrombey, a wealthy mystery novelist, celebrated his 85th birthday with his family at his mansion. However, the next morning Harlan’s housekeeper found his dead body with a knife. The police believe he committed suicide, but Benoit Blanc, an anonymously hired detective suspect he was murdered. Every person who attended the birthday party including Harlan’s nurse are questioned by the police and Blanc, and they find out that relationships between Harlan and family members were strained… Even if you don’t usually watch mystery movies, do not worry. Because this film is fast-paced, you may not be bored watching this film.
